New Name, Same Creative Spark

From mid-2020 to February 2023, the Alykat Creative Gallery & Studio thrived in the heart of Coffs Harbour known for its vibrant group exhibitions that spilled out into the graffiti-filled laneway and brought together the mid-north coast’s creative community.

While the original gallery chapter has come to a close, a new and exciting one has begun: The Laneway Gallery now lives in the same iconic space, continuing the spirit of creativity, collaboration, and community that Aly began.

Alyson still creates and collaborates under Alykat Creative, and now curates and exhibits both her own work and that of other Australian artists through The Laneway Gallery — while also planning pop-ups, creative workshops, and supporting fellow makers through markets and exhibitions.

I recently had so much fun being interviewed and dolled up for Coffs Coast's own glossy magazine; FOCUS.

The magazine's photographer, Gavin Moroney, is a bit of a rock star and if you're lucky enough to catch him with a rare bit of time, teamed with some excited creative energy, the stars align and THIS happens!!

Fairy Floss Fantasy

As an advocate and celebrator of art and creativity that doesn't have to be traditional or fancy, I wanted to curate a group exhibition that represented Alykat's quirky aesthetic and gave the people of the Coffs Coast community something fun and exciting to indulge in – particularly as we hadn't been able to travel to larger cities where you might have previously got your hit of inspiration.
